Catechetical School - Certification
I. PROVISIONAL CERTIFICATE

For those persons beginning the process after Sept. 1, 2002, four (4) courses are required for Provisional Certification:

The Creed: What Catholics Believe (CR)
Christian Mystery: The Sacraments (SL1)
Christian Morality: Life in Christ (CM)
Christian Prayer (PS)

The Foundations of Catholic Education/Foundations of Catechetics and Revelation, Scripture and Faith courses will be expected to be taken as courses to renew the Provisional Certificate within three years of completing the Provisional Certificate.

For those persons who began the Certification process prior to September 1, 2002, required courses (RSF, FCE/FC, CCC) meet the current requirements. The four courses noted above (CR, SL1, CM, PS) are recommended, however for Provisional Certification.
II. CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

Full certification requires the completion of the following 114 hours of classroom study or their equivalent through approved transfer of credit.

A. Scripture Component (30 hours). Any five: OT, PPW, SG, JN, PL, RSF
B. Tradition Component (36 hours).
CH1, CH2, VII, CR, CHR, CCC
C. Christian Life Component (36 hours).
SL1, SL2, CM, PS, FD, HF
D. Methodology Component (6-10 hours).
BSK (optional), TCC (may substitute FC or FCE)
E. Electives (12 hours). 2 classes (6 classroom hours each) from the Catechetical School courses, 6 hours for each day at the Living the Catholic Faith Conference(s), approved parish programs, etc.
